On Monday, October 17, 2022, a married couple in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, were reported to have died in a fatal accident after the motorbike they were riding together was hit by a car from behind. The perpetrator who hit it turned out to be his own son.

The tragic incident of a child carrying a car that hit a motorbike that was driven by his parents to death occurred on Jalan Mulawarman, Balikpapan. The victims were named Peltu Kris and his wife, Mujiyati.

The victim is a member of the TNI and his wife. Sadly, the two victims were hit by their own underage child. The child is still 15 years old.

Head of the Balikpapan Police Traffic Unit, Kompol Ropiyani, said that at this time, the condition of the child who accidentally hit his parents and died was traumatized.

The 15-year-old girl is now in Samarinda to deliver the bodies of her parents to be buried there.

From the information of Kompol Ropiyani, this tragedy involved a Honda Vario motorbike driven by the victim and his wife. While the youngest child drives a Toyota Innova.

"Until now we have not been able to get in touch with Ananda, because of information from the head of the RT where he lives, that he is currently still experiencing trauma. Until now, he is still in Samarinda," said Kompol Ropiyani.

According to Kompol Ropiyani's statement, they walked hand in hand from the airport to the Mess Mako Dodikjur Rindam VI/Mulawarman, where they live.

But unfortunately, the car that went by so fast in the middle of heavy traffic was thought to have caused the child to panic, causing an accident.

"Instead of stepping on the brake pedal, the child stepped on the gas pedal and hit his parents who were right in front of the car," said Kompol Ropiyani.

"The victim's wife was thrown and the victim was run over by a car driven by her child, so both of them died at the location," said Ropiyani.

According to Kompol Ropiyani, currently the child's status is still under the supervision of his family.

Kompol Ropiyani also said that his party would conduct an investigation and ask for information from the child.

"Later we will carry out the SOP for the investigation. Later we will do the BAP, then we will know the information from the child," he said.
